Books Little J LOVES

Image
I have been doing a lot of reading to little J this week. On Wednesday's we take Jam and Boo to their piano lessons and we get to spend one hour alone. It is a special time and I try to make sure he enjoys it. Sometimes we head to the 'Pirate park' - to pretend to be 'Pirates' (most Mothers of three year old boys will understand). However this last week we went to the library. Little J chose a huge pile of books and since it was raining we asked if we could sit in the back room and read. (We get a little too noisy to sit in the rocking chair in the children's section). His eye therapy makes it hard to sit still and read at the moment so a book has to really capture his attention. I thought I would share a few that we have read OVER and OVER this week. They are not in any particular order - however I will let you know I saved his FAVORITE for last. Lazy Eye Therapy 2 Week Check up.

Just a quick update. We went to the Ophthalmologist for our 2 week check up. Good News. Little J's weaker eye has improved 8%. I know that seems a small amount, but we are very pleased. Little J was very worried about our visit so I promised him a ice cream when we got home. I had planned to take a picture of him enjoying it. However, by the time I had found my phone - it was gone.

Lazy Eye focus work

I have been doing some close up work with little J this week. The doctor recommended that we so some seat work to help his weaker eye. It has taken some work and patience but here is a picture of one of the things we have been doing. Little J likes using bingo markers on alphabet printouts to practice his hand eye coordination.

Lazy Eye - Cool Shades

Image
Cool Shades Last year about this time I blogged about the importance of eye-tests. Well it was that time of year again so last Monday afternoon we spent a delightful afternoon at the Ophthalmologist. Don't get me wrong he is amazing and so all all the staff that work there but it was a very crazy afternoon. My oldest Jam had to choose new glasses and did a great job choosing them himself and ended up ordering a pair of Raybans. Which arrived in the office Monday and look amazing. (I will try to get a shot if he lets me.)  I ordered my years supply of contacts, I wear daily disposables and LOVE them. I am one of the rare few who build up protein so quickly that I couldn't wear those monthly sleep in ones. (I know I tried) When I tested them they were unwearable in 24 hours. I know just call me special lol. The main event was Little J last year we took him to get his eyes tested because I had started to notice a turn in his right eye. You can see my original blog po

Piano lessons

My oldest children have been taking piano lessons for a few years now. If I remember correctly it is about four.  When my youngest was born I convinced a friend of mine who plays wonderfully to take over their lessons. (THANK YOU) Last week while we were getting ready for Church my husband asked my daughter who happened to be ready first (I know it sounds crazy that my daughter would ready before her brother but I guess I still have those teenage never get out of the bathroom years to come). Anyway she did play hymns for us as we finished getting ready - it was wonderful. Again this morning I had an opportunity to sit and listen to their piano practice. They didn't know I was listening (I was cleaning up the basement) it was wonderful.  I know we always say nice things about our children, believe me I have sat through many practices of 'Twinkle Twinkle' and said they were great (and meant it). However it is nice to hear them and feel that you are listening

Quick Crock Pot Dinner!

Chicken Tacos A'la Crock Pot :) I know that I am not the only one who suddenly realizes their day is completely full to the point of bursting and you have nothing prepared for dinner. Well that was my situation this morning... I got up for work today at 5:45am - realized I had forgot to make my juice for breakfast (grapefruit, carrot and ginger.) Luckily I had a no-show lesson so I managed to make it before my husband ran out the door (He is so worth it).  Ran downstairs with my juice in tow and worked till 10am.  Got kids linked up with Nana for their Skype Latin Lessons. It was at this point it hit ...nothing for dinner - and nothing out of the freezer.  I have an afternoon of eye appointments, Apologia Astronomy lap-books to be supervised and soccer practice. (It was not going to be pretty.)  Then I came across this link for "best ever chicken tacos in the crockpot" over at "  lady with the red rocker Go check out her blog following the
