SkyZone Fun

Image
I was able tag along to a church activity the other day and take Captain to SkyZone. It's such a fun place to take a child that never seems to run out of energy!  He had such a blast. I mean seriously who wouldn't! It's a building full of trampolines, basketball with trampolines, and dodge ball with trampolines. I mean seriously did you read trampolines. We don't have one at home, to be honest I have family that are nurses and have worked in ER. Listening to them turned me completely off having a trampoline in our yard! However, SkyZone we loved for an hour of crazy jumping! I wasn't told to write this and I haven't received any compensation - we payed for our tickets :) BUT if you ever get the chance to go to one with a child who seems to have undying energy it will be fun. Please excuse my blurry pictures. Remember where it was taken and who I was with - A child with energy and a trampoline.

Home School In The Woods - The Middle Ages {HS Review}

Image
Captain was so excited when I told him we were going to work on another  Hands on History  program from  Home School In The Woods  called HISTORY Through the ages Project Passport World History Study: Middle Ages. It has been so much fun and the perfect subject for him at this time. They are recommended for grades 3rd - 8th and Captain loved it although he is at the lowest age range. This product comes as a download or a CD and all you need is a variety of card stock, paper, and of course a printer. It's all printed in black and white so it's very economical. It can be made 'bright' by choosing different colored paper or card stock when recommended in the instructions. This isn't the first time we had worked on one of these programs. Last year we worked on the  Renaissance and Reformation set . This program is easy to use and the instructions are very clear. It is a lot of printing at first buy it slows down after you get everything set up. I like taking my

Sunday Walks

Image
I love this time of year when we get random days full of sunshine. I love it when they turn up at the weekend. It's like a little blessing. This last Sunday was one of those days. The sun was out and the sky was blue. So after church we decided to explore a path that the boys had ridden down previously with scouts. Since we were walking we could go further than they had before. Captain loves beavers and we saw signs of them everywhere. It was such a fun walk. We spent the rest of the walk looking for the beaver lodge. We never found it but we had a great time trying. Not only did we have a nice walk, saw some fun sights and I managed to hit my goal on my fitbit too! Five Minute Friday - My Safe Scripture

We are all in craziness here! In the next few months we are going to be heading out on a big move. It's the furthest we have moved since my husband and I immigrated to the US in 1999. We have not lived more than an hour a way from my parents since then and it's going to be a huge change for us. We are moving to a slightly colder climate! I checked on the temperature there this morning and it was 32 degrees!!! WHAT I know it's cold some of the time here but today we are looking at a high of 64 degrees and tomorrow it's forecast ed to hit 74 degrees. The city we are moving too has had snow on the ground for a few months now. We just get snow for a day or two until it melts away. So one thing my kids are looking forward too is the snow/winter activities. I remember as a child living in Nebraska and they would fill the basketball court with water in the winter and we would have a free ice skating rink for the winter! It got really chopped up but I have some great memori

Times Tables The Fun Way - HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW

Image
If anyone has tried to teach a 8 year old their times tables and managed not to have tears in the process please message me! Although after trying  Times Alive  I am now a believer that there is a way to teach them without tears. Using the Times Alive online lessons with animated songs and stories to learn  times tables the fun way! Captain has been at the section in both his math programs where they are expecting him to learn his multiplication facts. We didn't have a problem learning to count so I really thought that this was going to be a simple process. You know the regular flip through the flash cards deal. The problem was that Captain hates flash cards. He finds them mind numbingly boring. We were actually in the middle of the 3x table when I saw the opportunity for this review pop on my screen. I think I actually heard angels singing - I was that excited! We had piano the day I received the email and it takes us away from home so I grabbed my laptop as we heade

Experiment Fun! Discovering Design with Chemistry - Dr Jay L Wile

Image
I normally get to have fun with Captain and help him with his experiments. Jam had a couple to do today so I decided to stay around and watch. Captain was excited because that meant he could watch too! Jam has been using Discovering Design with Chemistry book from Dr Jay L Wile. We bought their science kit as well. It's been great to have all the necessary chemicals etc together and makes it super easy to do the experiments. We did have to purchase a few things, but really basic supplies that you could pick up at the hardware store. This experiment is called Flame Tests and is found in Chapter 4 and just happens to be experiment 4 too. We decided to video it as it was a very quick but visual experiment. Plus anything with flames means I like to be involved. Yes we did this in our kitchen sink. Although it was super safe Jam made sure everyone had on safety goggles! I uploaded the video to my blog's You Tube channel. I'm going to be trying to do more over there so pl

I'm Going to Give You A Bear Hug - Review and Giveaway

Image
I was recently sent this really cute book called  I'm Going to Give You A Bear Hug . I love these kind of books and so I was really excited to get it in the mail. Boo was the first person to read and loved it straight away. I love how simple it is but SO cute. Everyone who has seen this book on my table has picked it up to read it. I think the cover just shouts 'pick up and read me!' The book is written by the best selling author Caroline B. Cooney and is her very first picture book and is perfect for a bedtime story. The pictures are adorable and the book is illustrated by Tim Warnes. This is definitely a book that everyone will love. I think it really hits home. I remember when my older two were younger we would talk about different kind of hugs. Of course a bear hug is always a favorite. Captain my youngest loves what he calls a 'high hug' which of course is when I pick him up! This would be the perfect book for Valentine's Day! I have found Capt
