Drive Thru History® - "The Gospels" {TOS Review}

Image
Visiting the Holy Lands is on my bucket list! Although it's not something that I am going to be able to pull off for quite a few years. I am glad that I have been able to enjoy some of the highlights thanks to  Drive Thru History®  and one of their latest DVD series  Drive Thru History® - "The Gospels" . To say we have loved these DVDs is an understatement. We have spent many hours watching them. Our favorite time is Sunday afternoon. Especially over the last month or so in preparation for Easter. We haven't always had Internet because of the move but having these and our DVD player or laptop handy has meant that we have always had something interesting to watch. If you have not seen any of the Drive Thru History DVDs you are seriously missing out. My kids have been watching the  Drive Thru History - American History  and so were really excited to get to watch this new series. The set comes as three DVDs and is comprised of eighteen, thirty minute episodes

Planet 316 - Daily Bible Jigsaw {TOS Review}

One of the last things I do at night before setting the alarm is complete my  Daily Bible Jigsaw  puzzle. It's a free app but to facilitate my review I was given some extra coins that you can purchase or earn as you complete puzzles. The game is produced by  Planet 316  and if you check out their website you can see that they have a lot of fun games available in different platforms. I have the app loaded onto my android phone and linked to my Facebook account. However you can play it directly on Facebook, or on a IOS phone if you download it from the apple app store. Linking the app to my Facebook has been fun as I can see all my Facebook friends that have the app and you can see how fast they complete the puzzle of the day! With extra coins it's possible to re-do puzzles if you want to increase your speed and rank higher among your friends. The app is always played on landscape view on my phone and their is a monthly calendar that you fill in as you complete each

Those crazy things you lose when you move!

Moving has been such a joy - NOT! Even though we haven't had to pack and drive our belongings across the country it's still been crazy. No we didn't sell everything we possessed, but we did have someone come and pack us, load it all in a HUGE truck - so big it couldn't fit down our street in the house we moved out of - and then someone drive it 10 hours across the country and unload us at the other end. There are some stresses that come with this type of move! Not the same ones as you get if you take weeks packing everything you own into boxes and loading it with the help of your friends that work for pizza and then driving it yourself - but stresses just the same! For example over the last week we have been searching for a printer cable and ink. I mean everywhere...I am convinced that I have opened every last box. Where would you have packed them, I ask... with the printers right? Well that's what I would have thought too but NO I have all the printers and even

Let the painting begin!

Hubby hates to paint, but he's really good at it. Funny how that happens right! After a full morning of teaching Jam how to properly tape off a room so you don't get paint on the wrong surfaces :) Jam got his first lesson. They worked on the ceiling of out new formal sitting room together. I can't wait for the blue wall to disappear, but I have to remember there is an order to everything. At least the ugly granite shelf is gone. Jam was amazed on how long it takes to put the painters tape and plastic down everywhere. It was good thinking to keep the movers out of this room. We actually sold our old sofa and chair before the move and moved our recliners to the basement. Which actually looks semi-organized. Which is great because it gives us somewhere to crash at the end of the day. So what did I do today you might ask...well for the last few days I've been busy putting the shared living space together. Especially the kitchen - man that took FORE

This is getting real...

Wow so this is it. We are down to the last few days. Our things are going into the truck today!

CompuScholar, Inc - Digital Savvy {TOS Review}

Jam was really excited when he saw the selection of course available to review from  CompuScholar, Inc.  He looked through all the courses that the crew were offered to review and decided that he wanted to start with Digital Savvy .  CompuScholar, Inc.  provides courses for homeschoolers and Public/Private Schools. So if you are looking for something to help teaching computing skills you are in the right place, no matter how your child learns. Chris and Andrea Yust have created courses that teach professional programming languages in fun ways! They have co-written more than eight introductory computer programming text books targeted at kids and teens. There goal is to make computer science education available to all. I remember when I was in school computer science was still in the beginning stages. My school thought it was at the fore front of technology offering a small programming course. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take it as I wasn't in the 'highest'

Memoria Press First Form Greek {TOS Review}

Image
I really love being able to offer my children a mixture of education styles. Although we are not exclusively classical I have used  Memoria Press  for Latin and other studies in the past. I was really excited to receive their  First Form Greek Complete Set  to review. Captain is using the First Form Latin series and really likes it. Boo was ecstatic when she heard that we were being sent this course for her to start Greek. She has studied Latin for a few years and felt ready for the challenge. I received; Teacher Key - This gives all the answers to the student workbook. They are laid out in the same way as the student text - just smaller so it's really easy to follow. It makes grading super easy/ Teacher Manual  - This contains lesson overviews, games and review activities to use with the student and a really simple to follow plan for each day. There are even little check boxes that can be used to mark off a assignment when your student has completed it. Student Wo

Contacts

For those of you that have been around awhile you know that Captain has had a few issues with his eyes. Eye therapy, glasses, more eye therapy etc for the last few years. We went for an eye check up a couple of weeks ago and his doctor said she would like to see him in contacts. WHAT!!! he's too young I thought. However, she really felt that we may see some improvement in his vision, bit definitely he would be able to SEE better. He was so excited and really was a great sport. He can't put them.in himself yet, but he's a champ at taking them out!
