Heirloom Audio Productions - Beric the Briton {TOS REVIEW}

Image
We love listening to stories while we drive.  Heirloom Audio Productions  is always one of our first choices. It is like watching a movie without the picture. We always get right into the story and boom two hours is gone just like that. The most recent one that we have listen to is  Beric The Briton . My kids have never listened to a Heirloom Audio Production we haven't loved we have listened to all the G.A. Henty ones they have produced. You can see all the titles below and if you are taking any kind of road trip this summer these are definitely worth getting! Again we were not disappointed with the cast. One of my kids favorite things to do while we listen is to is to try and guess who plays which character. Of course Brian Blessed plays the amazing G.A. Henty. In fact his voice is so familiar to my kids they would be disappointed if there was a recording of the real G.A. Henty and it didn't sound like Brian Blessed. We can see him in another role and the kids

Writing with Sharon Watson - The Power in Your Hands 2nd Edition {TOS REVIEW}

Image
Jam has added a new  High School Writing Program  to our summer schedule from  Writing with Sharon Watson . Jam has been working through The Power in Your Hands:Writing Nonfiction in High School, 2nd Edition. Summer has been a great time to focus on some of the subjects that are sometimes neglected during the regular busy school year. Jam has worked through a literature course (another Sharon Watson one) during our last school year and so we decided this review was the perfect time to focus a little on non-fiction writing. The curriculum is designed for grades 9-12 and since Jam has just finished 9th grade we decided to get a head start on his 10th grade English. Jam is very self motivated and I give him his schedules in weekly blocks. This way he can plan his time and work more or less on certain days depending on his schedule. This program has been perfect for this schedule. Jam has been able to work completely at his own pace each week and is doing great at working on priorit

Surprise Encounter

Image
I saw a doe in the middle of the road this morning. She didn't seem in any hurry to go anywhere. Until of course I tried to get my camera out. Then she hid in the bushes but still didn't run away. I turned around to carry on driving and I could see why.

ArtAchieve - Level III {TOS REVIEW}

Image
My kids love art and so my older two were really please to review a new homeschool art curriculum  from  ArtAchieve . There are three levels available and we have been working with level III the highest of the levels. Although I love art I'm not really talented or educated enough to teach my older kids now we have moved out of the glue stick and construction paper art phase. This is one of the reasons I loved this program so much. The lessons are taught in video format so the kids actually get to see how the project is supposed to look before they try it. They can watch the whole process before they begin or they can pause it as they work so they can take their time. As I said earlier I chose to work on level III for my high-schoolers. We are schooling through the summer but on a lighter schedule so it's been fun to spend more time doing art projects than we can sometimes give during the regular school year when we get so busy with our regular schedule. It's eas

Olim, Once upon a Time in Latin Readers and Workbooks {TOS REVIEW}

Image
Captain loves Latin. He has been studying it with his Nana in England via Skype for the last year. So when we were offered  Olim Once Upon a Time in Latin Reader 1  and  Olim Once Upon a Time in Latin Workbook 1  from  Laurelwood Books . There are six levels all together and I am sure that Captain would have been able to manage any of the stories but he really wanted to work on 'The Three Little Pigs', 'The Tortoise and the Hare', and 'The Crow and the Pitcher'. There are some really good stories available in the other levels too so make sure you check out the reviews of the other crew members by clicking on my link at the bottom of this page. This set comes as two soft-backed books. The Reader itself is non-consumable and can be used by multiple students. However, you would need a separate workbook per child. This series was authored by Mary Ellen Tedrow-Wynn a mother of seven and a veteran home-school mom. This experience has really helped her produce a

GPS and The Holy Ghost

Image
I had a little reminder of why we should little to the Holy Ghost this weekend. Friday night I was driving home with Boo from my sister's house. It was a pleasant drive and I had the GPS on my phone set to make sure we got home safely. When we first set of from my sister's my phone started to tell me to go a route that I don't normally take, in fact last time I took it it ended up taking me a little longer to get home. So I ignored the directions and carried on the way my husband had shown me numerous times. Now I have to just add her that my sister lives about 90 minutes from me, and we have to drive through the city to get home - past some undesirable neighborhoods. We carried on our journey, singing to music and having fun together. When my phone started talking to me again suggesting I take an alternate route. It said there was a short delay on our regular route. I pressed dismiss and carried on. A few minutes later it again suggested that I exit and take an alter
