Memoria Press - Eighth Grade Literature Guide Set {TOS REVIEW}

Image
We have been very fortunate to review the  8th Grade Literature Guide Set  from  Memoria Press . Boo loves to read and we looked at the  7th Grade Literature Guide Set  the 8th Grade Literature Guide Set and the 9th Grade Literature Guide Set  they all looked excellent. Boo had already read all of the seventh grade choices and although she could have handled the 9th grade choices we decided that she would enjoy the 8th grade choices and we have not been disappointed. To facilitate this review we received the consumable student guide and the corresponding teacher guide for; The Wind in the Willows Treasure Island  The Adventures of Tom Sawyer As You Like It The four books can be used in any order as they are studied as individual units one per quarter of a school year. Boo decided she wanted to work on The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, As You Like It, Treasure Island, and then finally The Wind in the Willows. The study guides do not come with the literature book

I know that my redeemer lives...Happy Easter

Image
1. I know that my Redeemer lives. What comfort this sweet sentence gives! He lives, he lives, who once was dead. He lives, my ever-living Head. He lives to bless me with his love. He lives to plead for me above. He lives my hungry soul to feed. He lives to bless in time of need. 2. He lives to grant me rich supply. He lives to guide me with his eye. He lives to comfort me when faint. He lives to hear my soul's complaint. He lives to silence all my fears. He lives to wipe away my tears. He lives to calm my troubled heart. He lives all blessings to impart. 3. He lives, my kind, wise heav'nly Friend. He lives and loves me to the end. He lives, and while he lives, I'll sing. He lives, my Prophet, Priest, and King. He lives and grants me daily breath. He lives, and I shall conquer death. He lives my mansion to prepare. He lives to bring me safely there. 4. He lives! All glory to his name! He lives, my Savior, still the same. Oh, sweet the joy this sente

Nourish Your Family's Spiritual Health this Easter

Image
We love to have dinner together. It's definitely my favorite time of the day. As a homeschool family with a hubby that works five minutes from home we tend to eat our dinner at lunch time. It's a great opportunity for us to catch up in the middle of the day. With our swim team schedule our evenings can be busy. so I relish this time. If your family is like most, breakfast is rushed to get everyone out the door. Lunch is spent at school or work. So where does that leave dinner? Nourish your family's spiritual health as you eat supper together. Adventures in Odyssey and Odyssey Adventure Club want to give you a free resource to help you begin your new dinner tradition of making the most of your family mealtime, beginning this Easter season. Simply head to this page and fill out the form to receive a free sample of  Whit's End Mealtime Devotions .   Want new resources to continue to build your family's faith, even after Easter is over? Consider signing your

Image
I recently told you I had signed up to be an Independent Consultant with Jamberry Nails. I have been with them for about a month and love it. I have loved the products for a while. I was introduced to them and fell in love immediately. I actually stopped my nail biting habit of 40 years and that alone was enough to make me love them. It took me a while to sign up with them, and although I am a busy homeschool, work from home Mom I feel that I am actually doing something for me - which is awesome. I am planning on making some videos etc as some of my friends have asked me too, they will probably air on my lisalovesjammin Periscope account. I post all my pictures on my  Instagram Account Lisa Loves Jammin . My current wrap Grey and Silver Stripe  is my favorite Jamicure yet! Field Trip Friday

Image
This Friday our field trip group went to our local department of conservation fishery. It was an amazing field trip. We were shown how they 'milk' a fish to remove the eggs and how they fertilize them. This fishery stocks the lakes in our area. The kids age 9 and up were able to go back into the actual workplace. The younger ones could watch through the window and then they were taken to the aquarium room and a volunteer talked to them about the fish in our area. After the tours the children were allowed to fish the 'children's fishing pond'. Captain caught his first fish, and Jam managed to loose 5 hooks and break a rod. All of which were supplied by the department. They could catch and release all day or be done if the caught and kept two. Hot dogs and worms were provided for bait. We used hot dogs. It was a great trip. According to the kids it was made even better because they were given a school group discount of 15% in the gift shop.

Here to Help Learning Flight 1 Paragraph Writing {TOS Review}

Image
Captain has been really enjoying his new writing curriculum, Flight 1 Paragraph Writing from  Here to Help Learning . We have been working on it for the last few weeks and his love for writing has really increased. We have been working through the first level or flights as they are called in the program on how to write paragraphs. I think we all agree that writing is one of those skills we can't skip. I mean reading, writing, and arithmetic isn't that how the saving goes. So when I was offered access to Here to Help Leaning  for a year Captain and I were both quite excited. Since Captain is only seven he started right at the beginning of the the program in 'Flight 1 Paragraphs'. There are three flights for paragraphs and three for essay writing. Flight is just another name for level, the program follows an airplane type theme and so the word 'flight' works well. There are 32 lessons in flight 1 and is a full year of instruction if used twice a we

Scripture of the week Isaiah 58:13-14

Image
This is the scripture that Jam is working on at the moment. He is down to the final 6 for the seminary year and he is very excited! He's been very self motivated working on his list of 25 scriptures. In fact I completely missed the last scripture as he had passed it off before I had time to blog it. This latest scripture is still in Isaiah. He's found the scriptures in this book a little more of the challenge. Heirloom Audio Productions - The Dragon and the Raven {TOS Review}

Image
We have had the opportunity to add  The Dragon and The Raven  to our  Heirloom Audio Productions  library. We seriously love these audio dramas and this one was no exception everyone was very excited to have the opportunity to review it! It arrived right before a long car journey and this time my husband was with us! Normally he doesn't get to join in until the second time round. I am sure I have told you all about Heirloom Audio Productions before but I will recap about them anyway. Heirloom Audio Productions specialize in audio dramas. If you are old enough (as my Mom says) you probably can remember listening to some on the radio in the evening. My Mom has fond memories of sitting around the radio in England listening to 'Mother's hour' and other audio productions that were played in the early afternoon or evening on BBC radio. We find audio dramas to be so much more engaging than movies when we are driving. Everyone including the driver can appreciate the story
