1. These week has been another warm one. I haven't turned the air on again though! The windows have been open 24 hours a day. I haven't suffered with allergies once! 2. Last Sunday we had a great walk around the lake. We found a ton of fossils. We wanted to find arrowheads though, but didn't. We did however find a very friendly tortoise. 3. We have our first USA swim meet of the season tomorrow. We can't wait to get back in the pool. It's a month later than last year. Better late than never. 4. Captain is now well on his way into his 2nd grade math curriculum. He listened to Jam and Boo discussing math today and said that he was glad his is easy. He also lost his second tooth this week! 5. Have you all made the switch to Windows 10? Mine is the last computer in our house that hasn't made the switch...I guess I don't like change. 1. Well the biggest thing happening in our house has a lot to do with Knex and the competition that Jam entered a few months ago. He made it to the final. If you want to help click on the link above and vote for 'Joshua'. (photo courtesy of Knex) 2. Summer has arrived to the public schools here. My older kids know all about school holidays - however Captain has never been to school so his concept of holidays are very different. He was very excited that we have a long weekend! Basically we do school if Dad is at work. Unless of course we decide to play. The big kids really like this schedule and Captain doesn't know any different so it's all good. 3. Saying that we are planning to do a lot of swimming this summer. The kids of course start summer swim team on Tuesday. However, I am really excited about our new pool pump. We decided to change to a salt water pool. I am not sure how it works as the salt water is changed to chlorine to clean the water etc...but with ...

1. This week has been great - until last night. We had planned to go to the Zoo today with my sister and her kids as they are on spring break. Until Captain threw up - twice. Luckily he is a star and ALWAYS makes it in the bucket, but still Zoo day cancelled. We woke up this morning to grey/rainy yuck so as it happens he's not that disappointed anymore - especially since we re-scheduled to next week. 2. I made this amazing recipe this week. I found it in a coupon book of all places. We made a couple of additions. However, I can say that everyone loves it. Including my fish hating Jam. I thought I would share - because I'm kind like that!  3. Boo and I are going to the movies tonight to see Cinderella with friends. We don't go to the movies often as we normally wait for DVD so hopefully it will be good! 4. Since Captain was sick yesterday he's having an easy day today - playdoh.  5. We are on count down now for our visitors from England! The kids can't ...

1. This week we celebrated Heather's 19th birthday. I can't believe it's been sixteen years since she's been gone. 2. Boo and Jam had a great swim meet last Saturday. Boo dropped 18 seconds in her 100 IM and qualified for districts. She's qualified for districts in just about every race. She has two more chances to drop more seconds to qualify for championships, right now she has qualified in the 50 Fly! Jam dropped 23 seconds overall in a four of his races. It was a great day! 3. We ordered Papa Johns yesterday. The kids and my hubby were a little disappointed...we bought it for a treat with their 'superbowl' special but we all decided our home made pizza is better. 4. We made this amazing Coconut Curry Soup from Mel's kitchen on Monday I added a little more curry powder and cayenne pepper and we ate it with basmati rice. It was amazing. 5.  Do you have a family tradition. Ours seems to be making pizza on a Friday night :) ©2011-...

Happy New Year 1. I missed my random five last week. Mainly because I was busy celebrating boxing day with my family.  2. We had a great Christmas. Usually we get together with my extended family on Christmas Eve. However, due to the fact we could have EVERYONE together for the first time in quite a few years. It was worth waiting until Boxing Day.  3. My brother in-law has just published a book on Amazon. It's the first of three. I read it last week and really enjoyed it. My Boo has just finished it and she really liked it too! Now Jam is reading it.  Stand Alone  is about a girl name Charli. She has one unique characteristic - she can't lie. It's is a good mix of supernatural, good vs evil. I can't wait to read the next two books! 4. We ended up with an impromptu movie night tonight. We don't do sleep-overs so the kids think it's fun when they can have pizza, popcorn, and a movie with friends until 10pm! 5. Friday night for me is a nig...

WOW December is going fast! 1. Ordering Christmas presents online is awesome. Except when someone else gets the mail from the box and then can't remember where they put it. I did find it - luckily as it contained the only present that Captain America asked Santa for. 2. Times have changed and Captain was the only one to be taken to Santa this year. It was a fun just to have some one on one time with him. He was a pretty good Santa wasn't he! 3. We had an Etiquette dinner at church with the youth I work with this week. It was really good but I didn't get any pictures. I managed to take one just before it started. I can't believe how grown up she is getting. 4. I introduced my kids to Marti McFly this week! 5. The kids had great fun with our little homeschool group today. We all got together and made 'graham cracker' houses, pizza, games and a story. It was such fun! ©2011-2014 Chickensbunniesandhomeschool. All rights reserved. All text, pho...

It's been a great week. I can't believe it's Thanksgiving next week. 1. Boo turned 12. In our church that means she moves up from the primary (children) to the youth (12-18 year old) It's a big step for her and she's very excited. The girls came around the night before her birthday and put balloons all over our front door. 2. I think I have Christmas organized. Shhhh don't tell the kids. 3. The Review Crew is all over for another year. I have a couple of book reviews that I need to post other than that I am think I am in withdrawals. Roll on December 1st! 4. We normally take the kids out for dinner on their birthday. This year Boo asked if we could take her to the movies instead. I thought that was a great idea - so tonight we are off to the movies! I didn't tell her it actually saves us money. Since I was going to suggest a date night with the hubby to see the same movie. 5. I am sat watching  A Knight's Tale  I think besides  The Princess Bri...

1. I feel like I have been living at the pool lately. However, it's been worth it Captain America is really coming along. I can't believe just last week I was worried if he would do his length. Now he can do backstroke (not perfectly but awesome for a 5 year old) and he's working on Butterfly - he can already do this stroke better than I can. The video I took shows a little clip. 2. We are closing the pool down this weekend. It's going to be said but today was REALLY cold. 3. I have a whole bunch of book reviews I will be posting soon - sitting by the pool for 90 minutes four days a week does have some advantages. 4. My kids have their Primary Presentation this Sunday. Once a year the primary organization give talks and sing all of the songs they have been learning all year. Captain America has his part memorized as does Boo. I can't believe this will be Boo's last one. As by the time next year comes she will be 12 and in Young Womens. 5. We made piz...

1. It was my birthday this week. Hubby was going to take me out for dinner, I asked him to cook me one of our T Bones from our half cow we bought...Awesome. 2. I moved into my new office this week. 3. Jam was awarded his Life Scout last Sunday. I am so proud of him. 4. Little J found a new computer program. He loves it! www.teachyourmonstertoread.com He is working on level two, probably would have played all day if I had let him. 5. We love poems. Boo's favorite poetry book is The Young Puffin Book of Verse. I will link up over at The Pebble Pond as soon as I can. See you next week!

1. Today we went to Legoland Discover Center and Sea Life Aquarium it was amazing. Since we were sent the tickets in exchange for a review, I will just add some pictures as a 'teaser' and I will write a full post soon. 2. We met a man who works for Hallmark today. OK I hear you say...that's not that interesting. Well he also does the voice for 'Curious George' which is Little J's current favorite show. So he thought that was pretty neat. 3. My office is almost finished. I will post some new pictures soon. 4. I am having withdrawal symptoms...I haven't been swimming in 3 days. 5. Did I mention I have an awesome husband...and he is nearly finished with my office. Don't forget to check out the other Random fives over at The Pebble Pond ! ©2011-2014 Chickensbunniesandhomeschool. Happy Friday :) I think the first week back after a vacation is the hardest. I am SO glad that it is Friday. 1. I have a new goal of going on the treadmill 3x a week. My old goal was 5x and it may seem like a backward step but with my schedule I never seemed to succeed with the 5 days - any only ended up with 3 or 4 so I figured instead of failing each week I would be more positive. 3 days - goal and I feel successful. 2. I heard about a cool website this morning and I have to share it. It's called Paper Rater   and it looks really cool. I haven't tried it yet but it looks like an excellent website. The major bonus is that it is FREE and you must know by now how much I love free. Talking about school we are making our transition back to Ambleside - Charlotte Mason based education the kids have been SO excited this week. It's funny when we started homeschooling this was the method I chose, and the kids did a lot of moaning. After taking a break, using Easy Peasy All in ...

Random Five Friday 1. I have spent the last 7 days in Mexico - kid less. It was awesome. My husband liked that I had the time to make sure he was reapplying his sunscreen for a change. 2. My kids spent a week with my sister and her family. My niece who normally homeschools by herself as she is the youngest thought it was awesome to have so many kids in the house during the week. 3. We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya the hotel was very nice. My parent's were a little shocked however because the last time they went it was not owned by Hard Rock and they were told there would not be many changes. There were a lot of changes - and not all for the better according to my Mom and Dad and a lot of other people we met during our stay. The ' Heaven ' side of the hotel has been painted an AWFUL blue color, and was under major construction while we were there (luckily) we stayed on the Hacienda side which seemed a lot more suitable and less under construction. 1. We found the curlers. So the desired curly hair for our Primary Program at Church on Sunday was not produced by the sock homemade rollers! Even though they worked perfectly well. 2. I tried to make Zucchini Bread today...I may never make it again. I think I put too much in the pan and I made quite a mess. Oh well it is finally cooked and I now I have to wait and see if anyone eats it. 3. Jam made me a hot sandwich for lunch today. Toasted Bagel, Poached egg, Jalapeno cheese slice, and a slice of ham. It was wonderful. 4. While the big kids are at their swim team practice Little J and I have been getting some exercise in...the first time we went we tried to take his bike...that didn't work so well on the gravel. He's turning into quite the walker. He love's collecting sticks. 5. We love the creamy Taco Bell Jalapeno sauce with our tacos. We ran out so we cut off the top so we could did out the last drop for dinner. ©2011-2013 Chickensbunniesandhom...

Random Five Friday (a little late again)

Random Five Sunday 1. Friday we spent the day at a water park. The temperature was quite cool but warm enough. The rides were amazing - no lines anywhere. We then went on to the amusement park where the lack of lines continued. 2. I was brave and let Jam ride the 'Rip Cord' with his older cousins. They even made him pull the cord that made them fall. He had a blast. Before Anticipation After 3. Little J bought himself a pocket watch just like his big brother. 4. We love living near the lake now. 5. We have applied for another  Houseparty it is an American Girl Doll Bitty Baby party. Boo is very excited she would LOVE to be picked. Keep your fingers crossed for us. ©2011-2013 Chickensbunniesandhomeschool. All rights reserved. Well I have moving down the kids in order and now it is time for Little J. A lot of people asked me when I announced (well showed everyone by continuously throwing up) that we were expecting again when our then youngest was 6 if this pregnancy was a 'mistake'. It was definitely not a mistake. He was very planned, we had just been waiting for a long time for this little man. 1. This little man hit our house by storm. I went for my 37 week check up and my Doctor said that I was going straight upstairs to deliver as my high blood pressure was so high it was making her blood pressure high.    2. He is full of life and completely rules the roost.       3. Little J Amblyopia however we are making huge improvements. We started with his eye sight at 20/100 and our last appointment (yesterday) we were at 20/40 +2. The ophthalmologist was almost as excited as I was. Mind you he can pull off the glasses. So Cute. 4. Little J loves everyone....
