Image
I love doing these random five posts and linking up over at The Pebble Pond . (This post contains affiliate links) 1. This week the water in our pool has changed. It has gone from freezing to perfect in the last three days. 2. Little J has been growing and changing non-stop. He can ride a bike like a crazy person. He seems to have two speeds stop and speedy. 3. We also have started to swim! We can almost make it across the pool. He can swim under my legs, and phew I need to put his life vest on him now and again so I can relax. (I have no idea what he was doing in the picture...but do you like his new Junior Speedo Vanquisher goggles, they are just like the big kids. 4. Little J and I made pizza dough together today he was SUCH a good help and had great fun. 5. It's been one of those busy days. My husband just asked if I will diffuse Zen his favorite oil blend for bedtime. Click on the link below to see more random 5. ©2011-2014 Chickensbunniesandho

Pendant Diffusers for Essential Oils!

Image
Contains Affiliate Links  Boo recently made my Mom an amazing Terracotta pendant. Which we put on a necklace for her. Boo put some of her little jewels in it and my Mom LOVES it. One or two drops of oil is all you need to create your own personal diffuser. We used the crayola terracotta air-dry clay for this one. I loved my daughters addition of the jewels it makes it very personal.  However if you don't want to go to the hassle of making your own Spark Naturals has some for the extremely reasonable price of $9.00  in five different styles.   Made from kiln-fired clay, the Terra Cotta Clay Pendants are the perfect personal diffuser for any essential oil user. They are naturally porous and as such allow for the absorption and subsequent release of essential oils so that they are easily breathed in throughout the day.   The Terra Cotta Pendants come with an adjustable waxed cotton cord which can be worn from roughly 15-30 inches in length based on your persona

Mom's Night Out Review - Laugh Out Loud - Fun

Image
Moms' Night Out is a novelization of the hilarious family comedy that celebrates real family life---where everything can go wrong and still turn out all right. All Allyson and her friends want is a peaceful, grown-up evening of dinner and conversation . . . a long-needed moms' night out. But in order to enjoy high heels, adult conversation and food not served in a bag, they need their husbands to watch the kids for a few hours-what could go wrong? Chronicling one night out gone awry, three harried moms, their husbands, a sister-in-law with a misplaced baby, a tattoo parlor owner, a motorcycle gang, and a bewildered cabbie all learn to embrace the beautiful mess called parenting. This book spotlights the unfulfilled expectations and serial self-doubts many moms feel . . . then reassures us that the key is raising kids in a loving home. Mom's Night Out is an endearing, true-to-life comedy. I loved this book. Honestly it took me less tha n a day to read

Blogging Through The Alphabet - E is for Essential Oils

Image
This post may contain affiliate links. When I was in collage studying Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy (in England it's a three year full time course) I studied reflexology and aromatherapy my during my last year. I loved essential oils, but then I changed careers and spent time in the Civil Service in the legal field (I realized I was not made to stand on my feet all day). Well it's been a few years and I finally found my way back to my love of essential oils, and I recently became an affiliate of Spark Naturals .It was sparked by my interest in using more natural products. I don't like medicine and my husband and I agreed to look into it. The first oil blend that caught my eye was their LLP Allergy Blend I joined the Oil of the Month Club to specifically try out this blend (Oil of the Month for April). I can tell you I have loved it. I have very severe allergies and over the years it has made it very difficult for me to go outside in the spring and the fall, w

Signed, Sealed, Delivered - NEW Hallmark Channel Series (Review)

Image
Do you remember the TV series, "Touched by an Angel". Well if you liked it you are in luck because the new Hallmark television series  Signed, Sealed, Delivered is created and Executive Produced by  Martha Williamson, who also created  Touched By An Angel .   This week I have watched two episodes of this with my family. I was sent an episode to preview, and a friend let me watch an episode they had previously saved. I don't know about you but it is getting harder and harder to sit and watch television or movies, without having to be worried about covering young eyes from things you don't want them to see, or comments with innuendos thrown out every five minutes.I have a 13, 11, and 5 year old and believe me we are so fed up that we just don't watch that much T.V anymore. We are happy to tell you we have found a show that we can enjoy together. It's a cool concept, nice morals, and just plain family fun. I even let Little J watch it with us. He loved i

Blogging Through The Alphabet - D is for DIY

Image
Blogging Through The Alphabet - D is for D.I.Y I think I married the best man in the world. I know we all think that but really my husband is awesome. Over the years he has saved us so much money by completing so many DIY projects. To be honest I have been spoiled. In my last house I remember making a comment about how handy it would be to have a new electrical outlet 'here' and boom...by the next week one had magically appeared (ha ha ha). My husband would tell you that he learned his skills in various ways. My Dad (another D word!) has been a huge influence on him. When we were dating (I was 16 and he was 18) he would come to my house for the weekend (yes - completing chaperoned) we lived in different towns and so it was they only way to see each other. I had a Saturday job and so my husband would hang out with my family. Which a lot of the time meant helping my Dad with whatever project he was working on. The next thing my husband swears by is 'You-tube'

Random Five Friday - May 23 2014

Image
Random Five Friday (may contain affiliate links) 1. I actually got in the pool today. The water was up to 79 degrees so I thought I would try. It actually wasn't that bad. However I didn't stay in as long as the kids, they are just crazy!  2. Little J has finally found our blocks again since we moved. It's fun watching him build again. He likes doing it while I read.  3. My kids last swim practice inside was yesterday. I guess it's a good job they don't mind swimming outside because that's where swim practice moves to on Tuesday. Burrrr to cold for me. 4. I will have sheet-rock up in my new office tomorrow. 5. I am an affiliate for Spark Naturals Essential Oils. I love them. Yesterday I made a blend for my husband because he had been working hard building my new room and hurt his shoulder. I blended Eucalyptus, Basil, and Black Pepper with some Fractionated Coconut Oil in a roller bottle. He woke up this morning feeling awesome. They ar

Random Five Friday May 16th 2014

Image
This week has been a little better that last week. Even though I have a big commitment Saturday morning so I have been dreading the weekend coming. Which is probably why I have enjoyed this week so much. So lets go with this Random Five! 1. Little J learned how to ride his bike last weekend. Its so exciting we have been trying the 'glide' technique and suddenly it clicked. Sad thing was I was out, so Dad got to experience this 'first' all by himself. However I'm pretty good with sharing as being a SAHM and a WFHM I get to see most of the firsts! and yes you may think all of the padding is OTT but please don't judge until you see him try to stop! I said he had learned to ride, apparently the stopping will come later :) 2. Little J loves his bread and honey. However, it has to be made the same way as Grandpa, honey first and then butter. Apparently it's better that way. 3. My parents are awesome. They are such an inspiration to me. Look how cute

Blogging Through the Alphabet C is for Civics Lessons

Image
What greater resource to use for a US Civics Lesson than the Naturalization Test for new Citizens. As you know from my  Blogging Through the Alphabet 'A' is for America post my husband and I are becoming U.S Citizens. Next Tuesday we are going for our final interview and we have to answer random 10 questions out of 100 given questions. So of course since we don't know which 10 will be chosen we have to learn the answers to all 100. Since we homeschool our children (actually we would have probably would have done this even if we didn't) we decided to make our kids sit the test at home. However they have to answer all 100 questions. When the kids were in public school we used to give them $5.00 per 'A' in their final report card at the end of the year. We have been homeschooling for 3 years now and they really miss their summer fun money. So we decided this test would be a good way to give them some money to pay for the things that they want to do this

Random Five Friday - May 9th 2014

Random Five Friday 1. Mother's Day this weekend - love it! 2. This week has been a little crazy. Monday everyone was in a bad mood, I think it is because the pool was full of water and it was hot outside. The kids were chomping at the bit to get out there. Despite the fact that the water was freezing. They managed to talk me into letting them get in. Little J wore a wetsuit with floats that worked well. The older two...well they just froze.  3.We are taking the kids for 1/2 price Sonic Shakes tonight. Little J can't wait - he is driving me crazy - "Is it time to go yet!" 4. Little J's favorite is a vanilla milkshake. Boo and Jam want peanut butter chocolate. 5. I made some more salve for my essential oils today. Solid Coconut oil, Olive Oil, and Bees Wax. Maestro Classics Review (Schoolhouse Review Crew)

Image
We love music. My husband and I were raised on music, different kinds mind you but music all the same. My husbands Mom plays the piano and his Dad sings, their preferences a little calmer probably than my parents. My Dad plays the guitar and my Mom used to dance to the Beatles. Quite often we would spend a quiet Sunday afternoon with my Dad playing the guitar. When we finally started busting out the Elvis Presley "Jailhouse Rock' my Mom knew we had got too rowdy for a Sunday afternoon sing along. I love any chance to introduce music to my children and so when I was offered two music CDs from Maestro Classics it was music to my ears :) There was quite a few titles to choose from and I wanted to choose something familiar and something new. Luckily I got the two that were my first choice and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I will tell you about them separately as my kids reactions to each one was different. B is Book It - Pizza (Inculding Homeschoolers)

Image
BOOK IT PIZZA P ROG RAM Did you know that home-schoolers can sign up for the Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Program . You can read all about it  here .  We got involved in this program when my older two were in public school and it really was the highlight of their month when they received their certificates. My kids still love it, even though this year was the first year Jam wasn't eligible (which made him very sad). This year we had a fun experience. My kids turned ordered their Book It pizza's and when it was time to pick it up they came out holding a Medium Pizza apparently my local Pizza hut ran out of personal pans  Did you know that the BOOK IT program was started by The Pizza Hut President Art Gunther he had a son who was a struggling reader and then as the website says he had a Light-bulb moment and realized that Pizza was a good motivator Pizza + Praise + Family = Success and a program was born. We have loved this program over the years and although I have just en

Random Five on Friday - May 2nd

1. This week has gone really fast, but also been really grey. I have had to diffuse A LOT of essential oils to help us stay happy. Luckily the sun is back today. 2. We finally got the windshield replaced on my husbands car this week. The crack had gone all the way across the whole windshield. Last time I picked up my Mom she was a bit nervous...so I figured it was time. 3. I am anxiously waiting for a big box of review stuff to arrive - It's driving Little J crazy, everyday he goes out to look. Maybe today is the day :) 4. It's time to sign up for Pizza Hut - Book IT Home-School enrollment. I love this program - however my kids love it more :) 5. Little J went to the Ophthalmologist yesterday his vision is still getting better. I am so proud of him. He still looks very little in the huge chair. The funniest thing though is he loves the eye test that shoots a puff of air into your eye. The Ophthalmologist thinks this is the cutest, she doesn't have any other patient
