Random 5 Friday

Image
Well I have moving down the kids in order and now it is time for Little J. A lot of people asked me when I announced (well showed everyone by continuously throwing up) that we were expecting again when our then youngest was 6 if this pregnancy was a 'mistake'. It was definitely not a mistake. He was very planned, we had just been waiting for a long time for this little man. 1. This little man hit our house by storm. I went for my 37 week check up and my Doctor said that I was going straight upstairs to deliver as my high blood pressure was so high it was making her blood pressure high.    2. He is full of life and completely rules the roost.       3. Little J Amblyopia however we are making huge improvements. We started with his eye sight at 20/100 and our last appointment (yesterday) we were at 20/40 +2. The ophthalmologist was almost as excited as I was. Mind you he can pull off the glasses. So Cute. 4. Little J loves everyone.

Scout Camp

It is Wednesday. I only have to deal with two more nights until Jam returns home from camp. It has been very strange not having him here. Little J has mentioned more than once each day that he misses his big brother. Boo just keeps saying it is very strange without him at home. One of his leaders took this picture when the arrived at the camp Monday morning. The four things I told him when he left... 1. Use Sunscreen 2. Use Bug Spray 3. Drink Water 4. Don't do anything dangerous which I followed by... We love you! ©2011-2013 Chickensbunniesandhomeschool. All rights reserved. Mission Call

Image
My niece is visiting from England. We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My niece had sent in here application for a mission and because she was going to be visiting us at the time she should hear from them, she decided to have her call sent directly to our house.     It was such a fun experience to share in her excitement. Hubby and I were over at out old house cleaning when she called us to say it had arrived, we literally dropped everything and drove quickly over. She got all of her family on her IPad (technology is amazing) for when she opened the envelope. Arizona Mesa Mission reporting to the MTC Nov ember 5th She is SO excited. Random 5 Friday

Image
WE SOLD OUR HOUSE TODAY. Now we just need to move out. Today's Random five is focusing on Boo my ten year old. 1. Boo was prayed for in a very specific way. After Heather's death I desperately wanted another girl. Not to take her place, no one could ever do that. However I wanted a little girl with dark hair, dark eyes, so when I looked in her eyes I would see her for her own person, not a reflection of Heather. 2. As Boo grew she was given her nick-name by Jam. He thought she looked like the little girl from Monsters Inc and called her Boo. It stuck...    3. Boo and her cousin were born 8 weeks apart. They have ALWAYS been best friends.  Pippi Longstocking and the Queen of Hearts  4. Boo loves music, she has been playing the piano since she was five and is getting really good. We have crossed the barrier between childish songs and music. I love to sit and listen to her play. Sometimes she gets to play on Sunday, in primary opening ex

Review - Baker Publishing Group - Lily Lapp Books

Image
I love all things Amish, I always have. I have read all of the Amish books in my library, plus many others. When I was given the chance to review some books from Baker Publishing Group . Life with Lily and A New Home for Lily I was very excited. I also was excited to share these books with Boo. Life with Lily and  A New Home for Lily are designed for ages 8-12 and are about a little girl called Lily who is Old Order Amish. We live quite close to some Amish communities. In fact while driving my English niece around last week she caught her first ever glance of the Amish. The publisher recommends these books for girls, and although my 12 year old Jam has shown NO interest in reading them...Boo often gave him updates of the story and he has always listened with interest about the details of Amish life. She was also a little freer with information relating to the story, as she knew he wasn't going to read the books. (See was not as quite forthcoming with me as you can rea

He was the first US Citizen in our family, and looked very cute sporting his Red, White, and Blue. 3. Jam has always liked sports, even on his first christmas.   4. Jam has always been a very good big brother.    5. He has grown into an amazing, fun, gentle, kind, brave, righteous twelve year old.   ©2011-2013 Chickensbunniesandhomeschool. All rights reserved. Review - Memoria Press Geography 1

Image
©2011-2013   I was recently given the chance to do a review from the company Memoria Press. I was very excited to be offered Geography I text suitable for grades 4-8. We have been studying a lot of Geography but have not done any map work for a little while and so I thought that this would be perfect for Jam and Boo to do together so I actually purchased an extra set of the consumable student workbooks. Memoria Press   is a family-run publishing company that produces simple and easy-to-use classical Christian education materials for home and private schools. It was founded by Cheryl Lowe in 1994. Geography I covers The Middle East, North Africa, and Europe which my children found really interesting. We used this three or four days a week, which meant that we covered about 3 countries a week. We have a globe and my kids loved to look for the countries they were reading about on the globe.  The Geography I full set for grades 4-8 retails for $48.00 and include

We LOVE games. Card games are a favorite because they so easy to store and play. We were given the amazing opportunity to review a card game from the company Birdcage Press. We reviewed Go Fish for Impressionists Artists . Birdcage Press was created by Wenda O'Reilly began making games with her children. They made them up together pairing their favorite card games with periods in art and history. A book was also made to go with each game and her children acted as editors. In 2000 the games started to be published and since that time they have received several awards for excellence. They are sold in the shops of many world famous museums. You can also purchase them here . My children loved this game. We played Go-Fish the most and had a great time. Grandma even joined in during a visit (missed the camera opportunity on that one). This game consists of 36 playing cards, and a 28 page booklet. It includes work from 8 Impressionist Artists; Edouard Manet Camil

Soft Scrub 4 in 1 Toilet Care - Review and Giveaway

Image
I have always hated cleaning the toilet. However now my children are older I have passed the responsibility over to them. We have three toilets which we all love until it comes time to clean. For some reason the outside of the toilets always get cleaned but the inside gets forgotten until I mention it. I was given the chance to try the new Soft-Scrub 4-in-1 Toilet care I was excited! (I don't know about you but something that keeps my toilet clean is a cause for excitement).   The thing I liked most about this product is that I didn't have to touch it. It smelled strong, but it wasn't really unpleasant. I actually really like the smell when the toilet flushes.  I haven't noticed any drawbacks, it has done what it was advertised to do.  Enter the giveaway below to win a coupon for a free Soft-Scrub product of your choice valued at $3.39 or cheaper.
