Enjoying the Chaos

If you have been around for a while, you know how much we enjoy reading books. We lean towards a living curriculum and so whenever we get the chance to read a new book we always jump at it. We were offered the first book in a new series Circle C Milestones called Thick of Thieves  by Susan K. Marlow and the downloadable study guide that goes with it. When this book first arrived in the mail Boo was actually in the middle of another book, and I had just finished one. So I got to read it first. The book itself is very well written set in the 1800's and based on life, horses and adventure in California. Andrea 'Andi' Carter is the youngest in her family and lives on a ranch in California. Based on the times they live very comfortably and Andi has many opportunities including the opportunity to get into mischief. I love to read period books, but  Love Without End - Robin Lee Hatcher  caught my attention and I thought it sounded worth a read. I was right I was immediately drawn into the story. I think it took me about 24 hours to read. The main female in the story Kimberly Welch lost her husband to a heart attack. He had been hiding financial problems from here and he left her and her daughter penniless. Chet Leonard is the other main character in the story. A few years ago Chet lost his teenage son in a car accident, then his wife walked out him and his two other sons. Chet breeds horses, and Kimberley's daughter was just given a bit of a wild horse. She has always loved horses but has no experience with them at all. If you can imagine the loss of a father coupled with the loss of everything you are used to, and being a teenager all rolled into one. I have recently finished reading The Brickmaker's Bride . It appealed to me because one of the main characters Ewan McKay  is an immigrant from Ireland (albeit a long time ago) I felt that we had something in common. We both moved to the United States seeking a better life for our families. However, that's where most of the circumstances end. Although I liked this book, basically pretty harmless. I could relate to the heroine Laura Woodfield and her love of her father (I think mine is pretty awesome too). I love reading! I read whenever I get the chance. However, I am sure that you agree some books suck you in quicker than others. This is one of those books. Honestly I was drawn into the story within minutes. The story starts with a flash back to a 17 year old Mallory. Her cousin is dying and she is a match, however her parents refuse to give permission for her to donate. She makes a promise to herself that she would save a life to make up for the fact she was unable to save her cousin. The story jumps forward Twelve years and Mallory now works in a Doctors office. She still feels that she still owes her cousin, and is desperate to help save a life in her memory. However now she has her boyfriend Tate to think of too. Tate is a Christian and very clear about his relationship with God he is a devoted Catholic and wants to lead a good life. We love to read books. Well all but Little J he would still prefer to be read too. He also loves getting mail so he was very excited to receive two new books in the mail from Kinder Cottage Publishing . I received this book from BookSneeze in exchange for an honest review. I chose this book to share with my 5 year old. We read it in one sitting and he sat through it and said he liked it when we finished. Willie is a Walrus who leaves his home searching for adventure.
