20 Mule Team Borax

Image
I just have to say I LOVE  this product. I add it to my laundry EVERY day. I have also made my old laundry detergent with it. You can see my recipe  here . If I am not using it in my own soap (normally when I get laundry soap really cheap with a coupon) I still add borax to the water. I prefer to start the water running in my machine and then add the borax. I let the machine agitate for a few minutes / seconds before adding my clothes. I have had the best results this way. The powder gets mixed into the water and dissolves nicely. Check out their promotions page here where you can sign up to receive their newsletter and coupons. (Who doesn't like coupons). Just in case you have never used Borax here's a few facts. 20 Mule Team Borax is 100% natural mineral from the earth. Borax is the common name for sodium tetraborate: produced by the perpetual evaporation of seasonal lakes Absolutely nothing is added. No phosphates, chlorine, or other additive chemicals N...

See The Light - Repeated Sweets - Review

Image
My children LOVE to paint, they never turn down an opportunity to get out our paints and brushes. When I was offered a chance to review a DVD art lesson by the company See The Light I jumped at the chance. Dave and Pat Holt are the driving force behind this company, they are joined by an excellent group of artists and musicians to share biblical principals and art in a way that complement each other perfectly. We were lucky enough to receive our first choice Repeated Sweets I chose this topic because I wanted to do this with both my son Jam (12) and daughter Boo (10) and of course sweets, cakes, donuts and ice cream would appeal to both of them. My children were very excited for this review, this excitement increase the day my husband brought home a dozen decorated doughnuts for the kids to use as props. Unfortunately they were all eaten before they were drawn and so my husband 'had' to bring more home. I think he enjoyed this part of the project the most. Rep...

UGLee Ergonomic Pen Review and Giveaway

Image
I was recently given the chance to review an amazing ergonomic pen . Well when I say I got the chance to review the pen it is a little bit of a joke. As I haven't had much chance to use it at all. My oldest son Jam was waiting anxiously for these pens to arrive. We are currently working on another review for a well know writing program. During the first lesson the instructor mentioned that he prefers his students to use pen instead of pencil. How can I argue with that... So the instant the UGLee pen arrived my son and daughter grabbed one each. I must say the few times I have used it I LOVE IT, my children LOVE it too. They have refused to use any other pen since these have arrived. The only negative thing I have to say is that, when I threw one of my pens in my bag (yes...hiding from the 4 year old) the squishy grip did pick up little bits of fluff but other than that we loved it! The UGLee pen was invented by Dr. James Lee (and named after him - not it's look...

Math Rider - Review

Image
My kids LOVE computer games. They don't love math facts. We were given the chance to review Math Rider a computer game that manages to blend both wonderfully. Math Rider is a game that helps children (or adults if you want to brush up on your math facts) master the core foundation math facts in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. It is designed for children 6-12 but if they know enough math facts (addition) and can use a computer then it could be used for younger children. Jam and Boo are 12 and 10 they are pretty good at math however like most children I know they could do with brushing up on their math facts. They love playing on a website that comes with soft furry animals (I am sure you know the one). So I really hoped this program would be a good fit. Guess what...I know my kids pretty well they LOVED it. The day we got the program it was too late for them to test it out. We have pretty strict parental controls on their laptop's and so I ...

Knowledge Quest Sacagawea Book - Review

Image
Boo loves to read.  So when we were given the chance to review a book about Sacagawea from Knowledge Quest I jumped at the chance. My son Jam had read a book about Lewis and Clark last year and so we were quite familiar with the general story. However we didn't realize how much we didn't know about Sacagawea. To say we loved this book is an understatement. Boo and I read it separately and discussed it as we went along. There are words in the text that are hyper- linked to help you with understanding. I don't want to give away too much of the story line... but did you know that Sacagawea was stolen from her family and then sold as a slave. Did you know she was only 16 when she played such a vital role in the Lewis and Clark Expedition, with a new-born son. I asked Boo what she thought "I really loved it. It was really interesting." This book really sparked an interest in Boo. A couple of nights after finishing the book. Boo and I were at home...

When the opportunity came up to review Leadership Garden Legacy I was quite excited.  Leadership is a skill that is very important to our family. During our lives my husband and I have had a lot of experience being leaders and also being led by others. We received a selection of items to help us use this program. The following products are for children 5-12.
