NotebookingPages.com - Notebooking Pages Lifetime Membership {TOS REVIEW}

Image
I have seen lots of posts about  NotebookingPages.com  online and I have always thought that it would be a great thing to add to my homeschool. So I was really pleased when they showed up on the list of reviews available to the review crew. I was offered a  Notebooking Pages Lifetime Membership  and I was really excited! Note-booking is something that I have tried to offer my children by myself but man o man it's hard to do it with everything else. If you are not sure what it is I will explain briefly. Notebooking is a fun way for kids to document what they are learning/studying. I have actually noticed a huge trend in this type of work, even with adults lately and I can understand why. It's a great way to incorporate lots of techniques; writing, drawing, charts, thoughts and feelings into a memory book of types that is fun to look back on later. I have also noticed that when Captain (as I focused this review on him) goes away after learning about a particular person o

Veritas Press - VeritasBible.com {TOS Review}

Captain loves reading his scriptures. He also loves working on his laptop. So I am sure you can guess how much he is loving our latest review a one year family subscription of   VeritasBible.com  from  Veritas Press . He loves learning about scripture stories and this has been a lot of fun for him. Captain has been working - well he calls it playing with this program a lot over the last few weeks. He seriously loves it and since we have gone onto a slightly lighter summer schedule it's the first thing he does every day. My older two were a little old for this, but believe me if they were in the room with Captain while he was working on the program they always stopped for a while - they just couldn't resist. So I received a years subscription - to what you may ask? VeritasBible.com is an online Bible study program. It includes three separate courses Genesis to Joshua The Gospels Judges to Kings Each of the courses have 32 lessons covering events and people du

MySchoolYear.com {TOS REVIEW}

Image
I have been homeschooling for quite a few years and have tried multiple ways to keep track of assignments, grades and hours. I was excited to try out  My School Year (Homeschool Record Keeping)  from  MySchoolYear.com . My School Year (Homeschool Record Keeping)  is so full of useful tools to help plan my kids school year I am sure I still haven't figured everything out yet. I have been using this online planner for a few weeks and so I will do my best to do it justice and share all the juicy details.  The first thing I loved about this program is that I can enter extra curricular activities easily. We are on a slow school schedule right now. We don't do full school, but we never stop either unless everyone is at home, or we go out of town. However, my kids do summer sports that differ slightly than our regular year sports. By differ slightly I mean we still swim - swimming is our sport all year. In the summer the kids swim on our local recreation for 6 weeks. It

LearnBop {TOS REVIEW}

Image
We have been using  LearnBop  to practice our math skills over the last few weeks. We were sent a 12 month family subscription to  LearnBop for Families  and the kids have been using it roughly 3x a week since we received it. LearnBop is a self paced online math program suitable for families. They have an individual plan and a family plan which allows for up to four users. This is the plan we received. The plan itself is advertised at being for grades 3-12 but we were able to use some of the instruction for Captain who is in the process of finishing up 2nd grade math. He's only seven so I don't hold him to a strict time frame. In some areas he's working above 2nd grade and that's one reason why this program intrigued me in the first place. The program does not hold children to certain grades so it is adaptable and easily allows a child the instruction they need in both advanced and struggling math subjects. I love online programs for math because they give

The Glass Castle - Shiloh Press {TOS REVIEW}

Image
Boo loves to read. In fact all my kids love to read. When I mean love to read, I mean they seriously devour books. It's hard to keep up with them. I used to try and read all the books before them, but eventually I had to give in. Now I rely on good reviews and librarians to help. So when we were offered a book called  The Glass Castle by Trisha White Priebe and Jerry B Jenkins  by  Shiloh Run Press . To say Boo enjoyed this book is an understatement. She read it in less 24 hours and raved about it the whole time. So I decided that I would have Boo write about the book, since she enjoyed it so much. "Avery dragged her three year-old-brother behind a boxwood bush and listened for footsteps in the brittle leaves. She couldn’t be sure which was louder-the person on their trail or her own heart, galloping like a stallion in her ears." This is the beginning of  “The Glass Castle.” Intense right? Aren’t books that start like this hard to put down? It’s impossible

Throwback Thursday Jamberry Style

Image
It's another throw back Thursday in our 10 week Jamberry promotion! This weeks #TBTJN screams summer, I mean who doesn't love watermelons in the summer! These colors are amazing. I already have the endless summer color suite lacquer set and I can't wait to add these wraps to my collection - Boo is excited too. She doesn't need the juniors which means sometimes I have to share. It's a good job you can get 2 manicures and 2 pedicures plus extra accent names out of each sheet. Plus of course B3G1 makes them very cost effective!! Just think how many compliments you will get at the pool or baseball game this summer - rocking these designs! MaxScholar Reading Intervention Programs {TOS REVIEW}

Image
We have been using  MaxScholar  to practice all sort's of educational skills. We spent quite a bit of time using  Max Reading and Max Phonics . This program used a different approach to what I have used so far with Captain. It uses the Orton Gillingham method and would be excellent for children with Dyslexia, learning disabilities, or ADHD. Captain doesn't have any of those things but we still found it useful to work on a different reading approach. There are two programs offered K-2 and MaxGuru. I was given a years subscription to MaxGuru this program includes MaxPhonics, MaxReading, Max Words, MaxMusic, MaxVocabs, MaxPlaces, and MaxBios. When Captain logged in he came to the screen below; Clicking on these tabs launched the programs or you could click just under here to go back to where you finished last time. Although these are the main links there are some other tabs that Captain loved to work with underneath. I will run you through each sect
