What a fun Friday. Captain and I went to a local wildlife center. The big kids were away and so he had a fun few days running the roost!!! He actually hand fed a goose. We will be spending a lot of time at this place. It's such fun and everything is free!! I bought Captain a compass. I can't see the exact one on Amazon but he really loves this one  Backyard Safari Expedition One  we found. It's already on his Christmas wish list! We have had some great field trips lately. We spent the day a few Fridays ago at a huge money museum. The kids had a blast! Field Trip Friday

This Friday our field trip group went to our local department of conservation fishery. It was an amazing field trip. We were shown how they 'milk' a fish to remove the eggs and how they fertilize them. This fishery stocks the lakes in our area. The kids age 9 and up were able to go back into the actual workplace. The younger ones could watch through the window and then they were taken to the aquarium room and a volunteer talked to them about the fish in our area. After the tours the children were allowed to fish the 'children's fishing pond'. Captain caught his first fish, and Jam managed to loose 5 hooks and break a rod. All of which were supplied by the department. They could catch and release all day or be done if the caught and kept two. Hot dogs and worms were provided for bait. We used hot dogs. It was a great trip. According to the kids it was made even better because they were given a school group discount of 15% in the gift shop.

Field Trip Friday - Symphony Dress Rehearsal

We are in a really cool coop. We don't meet every week for classes or lessons (unless something special comes up). We are in a field trip coop. Every month or so one of the parents plans a field trip. It works perfectly for us, my kids love it. Today we went to the  KC Symphony . We got to listen to them practice at the  Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts . I had never been there before and we were really impressed one with the facility and two with the performances that we were able to see. The highlight of the day was the unexpected performance by cellist  Timotheos Petrin  this guy is very talented. Boo left the performance dreaming of learning the cello. When we arrived the Kansas City Symphony played an amazing symphony in readiness for their weekend performances. Then walked in Timotheos Petrin and - oh my goodness - he is amazing. We were in a dress rehearsal so after the initial run through the symphony stopped and started practicing certain ar...
