HISTORY Through the Ages Hands-on History Lap-Pak: U.S. Elections {Schoolhouse Review Crew}

Image
With this being a presidential election year, and this being my first time to VOTE (can you tell I am excited), I jumped at the chance to review HISTORY Through the Ages Hands-on History Lap-Pak: U.S Elections from Home School in the Woods. I received this as a downloadable product via email. I worked on this with Boo and we thoroughly enjoyed it. When you receive the download it comes in separate folders. Some as audio, some as a printable book, and some as PDFs that need to be printed to form the lap pak. The first thing I did to prepare for this lap pak is print out all the relevant PDFs. There is a handy information sheet that tells you exactly what you need to print, how many to print and what kind/color of paper to print it on. This takes quite a while and so I like to get it all printed at once and then stored in a file folder until we are ready to work on each section. Boo really liked having it organized like this as she hates having to wait for things to be prin...

Progeny Press Literature Study Guide - Sam The Minuteman {TOS Review}

Image
Captain is still very new to reading and so literature guides are still very new to him. We were accepted on a review from  Progeny Press  with his very first literature study guide for the book  Sam The Minuteman  I wasn't sure if the book would be too hard for him to read by himself but it turned out to be a perfect fit. It's a fictional story with a fictional main character however set in a historical period all American have heard off. The first 'shot' of the war of Independence. The book we bought (not part of the review) was the level 3 'An I can Read Book' for grades 2-4. To complete the study guide I bought the book, we also needed a dictionary, and our bible. We used the King James Version. I don't want to tell you too much about the story as it's a really good. Progeny Press has a ton of study guides geared to all ages lower and higher elementary, middle school, and high school. Really if you are reading a book and you want to dig ...

YWAM Publishing - Heroes of History {TOS REVIEW}

Image
Boo loves to read and we were offered a choice history book from  YWAM Publishing . It was SO hard to choose. I was going to choose, but found it so difficult I let Boo choose. After doing a little research she decided on one of their  Heroes of History  selection. Then we finally narrowed it down to  Clara Barton - Heroes Under Fire . It was a tough decision - there are SO many amazing people to learn about and I love this collection. If I could afford it I would buy them all. Along with the book we also received a  Unit Study Curriculum Guide  ours came as a CD but I think they normally come as a downloadable file. Clara Barton had quite a remarkable life. Boo really enjoyed telling me about her and life. She talked and talked one afternoon about her sister 'Dolly'. She was very moved by all that she went through. My daughter found how the incidents of her early life molded her into the person she became and why she was known by many as 'The An...
