Greene Bark Press - Review Look Left, Look Right, Look Left Again
Little J loved this book. He didn't take any convincing to read it with me. In fact it didn't take long at all and he was quoting little parts of the book especially the important message 'Look Left, Look Right, Look Left Again'.
The book is about a little duck called Wally who after making a birthday card for his Grandmother wants to go to town to mail it to her all by himself. However at the beginning of the story Wally forgets an important part of his Mother's instructions about crossing the road and nearly hurts himself. Wally and his Mom then spend a few days reviewing the rules about crossing the road. We read about Wally's friend Jack, a school bus, a firetruck, cars, a train, and an elephant while reinforcing the important of 'Look Left, Look Right, Look Left Again'
Although we need a little more practice crossing roads and crazy car parks - which I keep reminding Little J are just as dangerous as roads. This book has really helped him think about the steps of crossing a road. He always repeats "Look Left...Look Right...then... Look Left Again" sometimes he even adds 'make sure the cars, buses, trucks, trains, and elephants are out of sight' and then laughs.
As you might have noticed we loved this book. The characters are likeable and cute, it's young and bright but did not seem to babyish to Little J at all. I loved the fact it was in board book form so it will last longer. It has already been on many a long car ride as Little J loves to bring along a book to 'read' like Jam and Boo and still looks like new.
This book is recommended for ages 3-8 and costs $8.50 here.
