Classical Conversations - PreScripts Cursive Letters and Coloring - Review

Image
I have heard a lot about  Classical Conversations but I had never used any of their curriculum. So when I was offered the chance to use and review  PreScripts Cursive Letters and Coloring I thought it would be a good chance to look at what the company had to offer. Classical Conversations   combines a classical education with a biblical worldview. To explain a little more about their physiology I went to their website and it says... There are two ways in which Classical Conversations "combines classical learning with a biblical worldview." The first is the more significant: classical education is a methodology. In important ways, it is not content-based—although excellent content must of course be chosen. It is a method, and its methodology is expressed through the Trivium, three of the seven Liberal Arts. "Liberal," in this case, stems from the Latin word liber, meaning "free." Education by means of the seven Liberal Arts nurtures childre...

Mud Fun at the Library

Image
My Mom and I took Little J and his cousin to the library reading time today. It was SO much fun. The librarian had planned the day based around the theme of 'MUD'. Little J was very excited as his favorite book was on the schedule to be read. After reading a few books the librarian told the story of The Three Little Pigs. The children were sat on two rugs, so as she told the story half of the children said "I will huff and puff and blow the house down" and the other children shouted "By the hair of my chinny chin chin, We will not let you in" Little J and his cousin were on the rug pretending they were the wolf...they had a blast. After the story came even more fun. PAINTING WITH MUD  After we cleaned them up our librarian caught little J on the way out. and put a little dot on his cheek. They had a great time. What fun things happen at your library. This post contains an affiliate link. ©2011-2013 Chickensbunniesandhomescho...

Institute For Excellence in Writing Review : IEW

Image
Every since I started homeschooling two years ago one company name has been suggested to me over and over by fellow home schooler's Institute for Excellence in Writing also called IEW.  I was given the amazing opportunity to review Teaching Writing: Structure and Style  and Student Writing Intensive Level B . Most of the reviews that I have done have been focused on my children. It was amazing to spend the last few weeks being taught how I can be a better teacher.   This set includes; 10 DVDs: Six DVDs with instruction on the nine structural models and multiple stylistic techniques (10 hours total viewing time—may be watched all at once, or viewed one disc at a time throughout the school year) Tips & Tricks for Teaching Through the Nine Units , a two hour supplemental DVD refresher course Three DVDs of sample student workshops at three different grade levels to help you with that first lesson The TWSS Seminar Workbook, which serves as t...

Random 5 Friday

Image
Well I have moving down the kids in order and now it is time for Little J. A lot of people asked me when I announced (well showed everyone by continuously throwing up) that we were expecting again when our then youngest was 6 if this pregnancy was a 'mistake'. It was definitely not a mistake. He was very planned, we had just been waiting for a long time for this little man. 1. This little man hit our house by storm. I went for my 37 week check up and my Doctor said that I was going straight upstairs to deliver as my high blood pressure was so high it was making her blood pressure high.    2. He is full of life and completely rules the roost.       3. Little J Amblyopia however we are making huge improvements. We started with his eye sight at 20/100 and our last appointment (yesterday) we were at 20/40 +2. The ophthalmologist was almost as excited as I was. Mind you he can pull off the glasses. So Cute. 4. Little J loves everyone....

Scout Camp

Image
It is Wednesday. I only have to deal with two more nights until Jam returns home from camp. It has been very strange not having him here. Little J has mentioned more than once each day that he misses his big brother. Boo just keeps saying it is very strange without him at home. One of his leaders took this picture when the arrived at the camp Monday morning. The four things I told him when he left... 1. Use Sunscreen 2. Use Bug Spray 3. Drink Water 4. Don't do anything dangerous which I followed by... We love you! ©2011-2013 Chickensbunniesandhomeschool. All rights reserved. Mission Call

Image
My niece is visiting from England. We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My niece had sent in here application for a mission and because she was going to be visiting us at the time she should hear from them, she decided to have her call sent directly to our house.     It was such a fun experience to share in her excitement. Hubby and I were over at out old house cleaning when she called us to say it had arrived, we literally dropped everything and drove quickly over. She got all of her family on her IPad (technology is amazing) for when she opened the envelope. Arizona Mesa Mission reporting to the MTC Nov ember 5th She is SO excited.
