Classical Conversations - PreScripts Cursive Letters and Coloring - Review

I have heard a lot about Classical Conversations but I had never used any of their curriculum. So when I was offered the chance to use and review PreScripts Cursive Letters and Coloring I thought it would be a good chance to look at what the company had to offer.

Classical Conversations  combines a classical education with a biblical worldview. To explain a little more about their physiology I went to their website and it says...

There are two ways in which Classical Conversations "combines classical learning with a biblical worldview." The first is the more significant: classical education is a methodology. In important ways, it is not content-based—although excellent content must of course be chosen. It is a method, and its methodology is expressed through the Trivium, three of the seven Liberal Arts. "Liberal," in this case, stems from the Latin word liber, meaning "free." Education by means of the seven Liberal Arts nurtures children in ways that ensure they mature into free human beings.

Little J already knows his letters and sounds and can write most of the letters fairly well so I was intrigued with how he would handle the cursive letters in this book.

PreScripts Cursive Letters and Coloring retails for $11.99 and is recommended for ages 3-7. Little J is four and so he was definitely in the beginning of the age range. Saying that, Little J LOVED this book...well except for the fact he had to trace cursive letters.

He loved the pictures to color and he loved tracing the shapes that are designed to improve hand eye coordination and writing readiness.

The caterpillar was his favorite.

The website describes this book as follows;

Introduce children to the building blocks of cursive writing and drawing. Finger tracing, tracing with pencil, and copying build confidence and fine motor skills. Coloring pages include images from medieval and modern world history.

I would say that this book does exactly that. This was new to us, he had never written a cursive letter before and he found it hard.

It was definitely NOT something he enjoyed however with perseverance he became a little less grumpy each time we practiced. Knowing that when we went past the letter page he could trace something fun or color a picture. I think if he was a little older he would have enjoyed it more.

Although we struggled through the cursive tracing pages, Little J will still tell you this is his FAVORITE book right now. Check out some sample pages here.

Although Little J and I reviewed PreScripts Cursive Letters and Coloring others on the crew reviewed PreScripts Cursive Words and Drawing, Prescripts Cursive Sentences and Art, Prescripts Cursive Passages Illuminations
