Looking Forward to 2013

We have had such an amazing year.

It is hard not to look back and wish we could do it all over again.

However I am looking forward to all the new things we get to this year.

Since being accepted on the Schoolhouse Review Crew we are going to have the opportunity to try out and review lots of new supplies we might otherwise not get to use. However I still have a basic plan and will add new and exciting things as they are offered us through out the year. I will post some of the kids narrations and views of these amazing resources as we go through our year.

Our school year goes from January - December so we have a lot of new beginnings.

JAM is going to start the year studying the end of WW1 to the present day for one term. Then he will step back in time (a favorite for him) to study  Augustus Caesar's World by Genevieve Foster and Story of the Greeks by H. A. Guerber for the second term and Augustus Caesar's World by Genevieve Foster and Story of the Romans by H. A. Guerber for his third term.

To go along with this history study our plan includes reading a selection of excellent books.

Science - For the first term we are using Apologia Zoo 2 -  Swimming Creatures I let the kids decide what we do with these so right now what other selections we will be using. Jam however will swap to Exploring Creation with General Science sometime during this year.

Comments

  1. Hi, there, thanks for visiting Inchworm Chronicles and for commenting.

What a great list you've got here! My littles like McCloskey here, too. The Story of the Greeks/Romans sounds like something my oldest would like. I'll have to check that out sometime.

May your New Year be filled with fun learning adventures!

    Blessings,
    Eve

  2. Please consider adding Enemy Brothers, another title by Constance Savery, to your list of World War II stories. Published (1943) while the outcome of the war was still in doubt, the book brings to life a large extended family "carrying on" in the English countryside. Wartime shortages, evacuees in residence, and occasional air raids serve as background for a memorable tale of brotherly love.
