What Would the Founding Fathers Think - Review

When I was given the opportunity to read and review this book I was very excited. Although I am not yet a citizen of this amazing country. I did make the personal choice to live here and I love this country.

There are three main points that are very important and they are the main focus of the book. In the authors own words I quote-

1. The United States of America was and is the greatest country on earth.
2. Today the United States of America is in serious trouble.
3. You will inherit the United States -and its problems- in just a few short years.

I wanted to read this book to my children especially my 12 year old son Jam. However I wanted to read it first so I could be prepared to discuss it with him. Whenever I put the book down and then went to pick it up again I could never find it. Then it would appear again on my table as if it had never been gone. Eventually about the second or third time this happened I decided to find out who was reading it!

Guess what!

Jam had seen it, thought it looked interesting and had read it. So instead of reading it together we just went straight to the discussing part.

To say he loved it would be an understatement. I heard him on several occasions discussing it with his 10 year old sister Boo. He would show her some of the funny cartoon pictures and then explain what it was talking about.

My son loves early American history and the thought of George Washington or any of the other founding father 'time traveling' was just hilarious to him. The author really knows how to engage his audience and make children and adults alike understand this important topic. In fact I have been telling everyone I know about this book. I haven't felt that about a book in a long time.
The book explains in very clear and sometimes humorous ways what went wrong with this country. It is funny and yet very serious after all it is the future of our children and country at stake. Our children need to understand the core principles this country was founded on and this book delivers.

This book is available from AmazonBarnes and Noble, and Deseret Book.com. It can be purchased for kindle or as a paperback. It retails for $11.99 for the paperback.

About the Author

As a Christian and as a patriot, David Bowman glorifies his Savior and his nation through his fine art, his books, and his motivational speaking.

David also writes and illustrates a variety of books for young audiences. Combining his cartooning skills
and his experience teaching at a high school level, David knows how to engage kids, pre-teens, and
teens with books that are both entertaining and enlightening. His best-selling Who's Your Hero series
helps kids want to become modern day examples of heroes from the scriptures. The Great Plan of
Happiness teaches them of God's plan for their lives and Dude, Don't be a Lemuel helps older kids and
teens avoid negative, faith-destroying attitudes.

In the political realm, David's latest work is quickly becoming THE Constitutional/conservative book
for young Americans. In What Would the Founding Fathers Think? A YOUNG American's Guide to
Understanding What Makes Our Nation Great & How we've Strayed, David uses wit, humor, and a
variety of visuals to skillfully teach preteens and teens alike the wisdom of returning to our nation's
founding principles, and in a way that they will actually "get it". Even adults will enjoy the simplicity
of its explanations. As Barbara Stowell, Vice President of Constitution Week USA, puts it: "I've learned
more from this book than all the other government and constitutional course material I've studied."

And David loves to teach! He speaks to youth groups on religious and political topics all over the
country. His fun, engaging style, on a variety of topics, helps motivate them to be all-around better
Christians and patriots. Your kids won't soon forget a David Bowman presentation!

  17. That is wonderful that the author is Christian since this country was founded on Christian values. Must have been a good book for it to disappear and reappear.

    Thanks for the review.
