Field Trip Friday - Rock Climbing
Our local University has an awesome rock wall that is open to the public and they charge the amazing price of $3 per climber. My kids love going, and I like the price.
Last Friday our planned field trip fell through and has been moved to March. However, my kids really wanted to go somewhere. So I suggested to our field trip group that we make a spontaneous trip to the rock-wall. It can sometime get busy with college kids so normally I call ahead and they open an hour earlier for us - at no extra charge. It's a really great facility. All of the workers there are students and have always been polite and helpful to my kids.
After a brief talk about the rules and regulations of the wall, the kids get geared up. All harnesses and shoes are included in the $3 fee so as you can see it's the perfect place to learn a new skill, and burn up some energy.
We have been going there for the last five years and the kids love it every time. We had a lot of our home-school friends join us and we really had a blast.
Jam and his friend are really competitive, they are on the same swim team and so made me time them going up the wall - all friendly competition of course. Boo has her own chalk bag, the boys kept using her chalk so she say's they have to invest in their own for our next trip. Which caused Jam and Boo to have a little chalk fight which was fun.
You ought to check out your local University and see if they have any facilities you can use!

Visiting from Field Trip Friday.
ReplyDeleteThis is cool! We have a university and a community college here. I'll have to give them a holler to see if they have something like this. That price is fantastic and I know my girls would love it. Thanks for sharing. - Lori
What an awesome idea! I have never thought to check our local universities and colleges to see if they have any facilities that we could use. Who can beat that price?! And rock wall climbing really uses lots of muscles and problem solving skills.
