The First Christmas Night- Book Review and Giveaway

The First Christmas Night- Book Review and Giveaway

I recently received a copy of The First Christmas Night written by Keith Christopher and illustrated by Christine Kornacki. When I first opened the packaging I was absolutely thrilled with the quality of the book. The illustrations are amazing and the quality of the book itself is wonderful. In fact for the sake of this review I almost wanted to put up my Christmas Tree just to take the 'perfect' picture.

 The First Christmas Night
Written by: Keith Christopher
Illustrated by: Christine Kornacki
Publisher: Ideals Books
Hardcover: 32 pages
$16.99

I love poetry and that is just what you will find inside this book as you read it you can feel the musical influences. Keith Christopher is a composer, arranger, orchestrator, and educator, and he has served as editor and producer for several major music publishers. Keith Christopher is served on the faculty at the Blair School of Music of Vanderbilt University in Nashville.

Remember I mentioned how I loved the pictures, well Little J loves books and because he is just starting to read, pictures are very important to him. He loves this book and enjoys having it read to him as long as he can see the pictures. The illustrator Christine Kornacki developed a love of art and bringing stories to life. After receiving a BFA in illustration from the University of Hartford she began illustrating children's books including the best-selling The Sparkle Box for Ideal's Children's Books. Christine's recent work also includes illustrating the six-book series for the American Girl historical doll characters Marie-Grace and Cecile (which Boo love's).

This book was written for children aged 4-8. The rhyming language can help them develop verbal language skills and learn to read.
You can buy it here for $16.99 or enter my giveaway below to win a copy for Christmas.

  1. My favorite Christmas tradition? The ornaments my mom gave us each year growing up, and now I'm carrying it on for my children!

    1. What a fun tradition! We have a similar tradition, my children like to make a new homemade ornament for our tree each year! :)

  2. My favorite tradition is our advent book tree tradition. We read one Christian book each day leading up to Christmas. On Christmas day, my daughter receives a new Christmas book focusing on the true meaning of the holiday. Then, she opens the first gift which holds a Baby Jesus figurine. I then verbally tell her the story of Jesus's birth - The First Christmas story. It would be a blessing to win this book, because I could read this book aloud and it could be her present. Here is my book tree post http://totplay.blogspot.com/2012/12/christmas-traditions-25-days-to.html. Thank you for the chance.

  3. We LOVE the Jesse Tree Christmas tradition. We place a paper ornament on our tree, sing songs, read from the Bible, and sometimes do a related craft.
