The Brinkman Adventure Season 3 {TOS Review}
I had never listened to any of the previous episodes but it was easy to figure out who was who and what was happening.
The Brinkman's are a real life family, well there name's have been changed but the voices of the actors and actresses play themselves. So although it's not their real names it is the real person - it's that neat. A lot of the stories really happened, although some of course are dramatized for the stories, most are based on real events. There are a lot of stories from missionaries from around the world, and although they are a different religion than I am it is amazing to hear stories based on the faith of Jesus Christ.
I was sent the CD of Season 3 which has a total of 10 stories on it 2 of them have 2 parts.
- God's Mule
- Mountain Mover
- Silent Ambassador
- Translating Trouble
- Man-Up
- Acorns & Oaks
- A Saint Story Pt 1
- A Saint Story Pt 2
- Untouched
- Busy Bees and a Bullhorn
- Missionary Tourist Pt 1
- Missionary Tourist Pt 2
Our favorite story was 'Man-Up' we listened to the stories as we drove and this one had them on the edge of their seats literally. It's about a trip to Alaska that could have ended in a major disaster for more than one person if it hadn't had been for the miraculous sighting of some distress flares that called out the search and rescue teams. The story on the CD includes, dangerous cliffs, falls, and wolves. Definitely an adrenaline rush. Captain was sad however when we read the 'real' version of the story on the website as it wasn't as dramatic and didn't have a young boy as the main character.
Captain especially liked the stories every time we got into the car (no matter how short the journey) he would ask to turn it on. Sometimes this would mean we had to sit in the car and wait to get to the end of an exciting part.
Each episode is about 25-30 minutes so even our 10 minute drive to swimming used to include part of a story. We have listened to a lot of CD audi stories and so the kids are used to 'switching off' when we get home and 'turning it back on' as soon as we get into the car. It makes a short errand into a major entertainment experience.
After we listened to the whole CD I was intrigued and went to Brinkman Adventures to learn more about the true stories behind the episodes. My husband would have preferred to hear the actual real story rather that the 'embellished ones' as he put it. However, the kids really enjoyed listening to the CD and Captain was quite sad when we had finished the last one.
The story 'Untouched' encouraged me to watch the movie about the same story. It's about the Missionaries who went to Waodoni people. The first missionaries were killed but eventually the people accepted God and became a changed people. I had heard about this story before and it was fun to hear it on this CD.
What We Thought:
We found the stories entertaining and it's nice to listen to stories from around the world where people put all their faith and trust in God.
