Guy Fawkes - November 5th
When I look out of my window today it makes me remember all of the Guy Fawkes night I spent in England.
It's grey, rainy, and cold.
So while I am remembering all of those November's where I stood around a bonfire, straining to see the fireworks in the misty darkness here's a poem to help me...
Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
the Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I see no reason why Gunpowder Treason should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, t’was his intent to blow up King and Parliament.
Three score barrels were laid below to prove old England’s overthrow;
By God’s mercy he was catch’d with a dark lantern and lighted match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
Hip hip hoorah!
I am very proud to say that Jam and Boo recognized the story from our readings of 'Our Island Story'.
We watched a very cool video about Guy Fawkes here it is an eight part series but very worth watching. Jam loved it - spoiler - lots of explosions!
