C is for Children's Books

April 2nd was International Children's Book Day. It is celebrated every year around the birthday of  Hans Christian Anderson.

In our house reading is probably one of our favorite things to do. Little J goes to our local library once a week for a 'reading time' program that is specially put on for preschool aged children. They read stories, do crafts, and sometimes 'food' is involved Little J's favorite.

April 2 happened to be the day for our library trip. Little J loves this time, it is special as this activity is just for him, something he doesn't have to share with his older siblings.

I choose a lot of the books we read during our week but when we go to the library I let Little J loose in the children's area give him a set number and let him choose a few books for himself. These books vary in content but he loves being able to choose some for himself.

Well true to form we came back from the library with our bag bursting at the seams. Little J had chosen some new books and some of our all time favorites. Now don't judge me a lot of these I would call 'twaddly' and do not make up the bulk of our story time. We are well into Winnie the Pooh (original classic version - not Disney) for the majority of that.

This one has been read numerous times to Little J from EVERYONE.

We LOVED this one - So FUN - Really because EVERYONE thinks it's fun to jump on the sofa.

Of course we have our family read aloud - Which Little J would like more if there were more pictures.

Magnificent Tales -Treasury of Bible Stories - Review and Giveaway

For the last couple of week Captain America has really been enjoying this really cool picture book full of bible stories. Captain America has really loved these stories. In fact the very day this book came in the mail he made Dad read it from cover to cover. Just about every day since, he has convinced someone to read at least one to him. The stories are all told in rhyme which make them really fun to read as well as listen to. The pictures are also very bright and fun. The Ultimate Blog Party #UBP13

This is my first time participating in this blog party so I am kind of nervous... You know the walk into a room and not knowing any one kind. I am originally from England and have lived in the States for the last 14 years. My husband is also from England and so although out children were all born here. They still have some strange British quirks, eat British food, and pronounce things in different ways - yes my boys are cowboy boot wearing Americans through and through. The hats normally only come out for Halloween though. We starting homeschooling about two years ago when Jam was starting 5th grade and Boo 3rd. We love it. At the time we had chickens and bunnies - however we recently gave them to a friend who has a farm since we are trying to relocate closer to my husbands work. (He commutes an hour each way.) So my blog name makes me chuckle it should now be Homeschool but NO chickens and bunnies. I am excited to meet new friends. Leave me a comment to say Hi.
