LDS General Conference Weekend and New Deck

This weekend happens twice a year and feels like Christmas! It started last Saturday when Boo and I got to go the General Women's Conference together. It was a wonderful meeting. I found it very interesting when they started talking about a sister who helped the Kosovo people in the 90s. It mentioned that she drove a truck full of supplies with her daughter, as I was sat there I realized that they were talking about my friends Mom. She helped organize a lot of aid during the Bosnian war. You can read about her here and here.
It is an amazing story and definitely worth a read.

We have also been working outside a lot. Of course when I say 'we' I mean my husband and the kids. They have been building a deck half way around the pool and lower than our current deck but joined with a new set of stairs. It is so exciting. Ever since we put the pool in a couple of years ago I have dreamed about a deck next to it! My husband saw an ad in craigslist about decking and went up to get it with the older kids. The man was going to charge $100 but because the kids and my husband did such a great job cleaning up after themselves he said he wasn't going to charge since we were really doing him a favor. Which is great! So they went twice and brought home enough wood for the base of our new deck. We bought new top boards but it is coming along great. Right now the boys are out moving some of the tall grass from the front of my house to around the back near the pool. I also treated myself to some Knock Out Roses. I have wanted some for years and finally just bought some.

I can't wait till the summer and we are finally relaxing on the new deck!
