One hour Bread Rolls - Jam is our resident Bread Maker

We don't buy bread at the moment. Not because I am going through a good homemaker stage or anything. Jam is now our resident bread maker. He LOVES making bread. We found a recipe that only takes just over an hour.

The original recipe calls for 2 loafs of bread in England we would have called them bloomers (like french bread - not in a pan). However lately we have found it more convenient to make bread rolls. One day I decided to make bread rolls at the last minute and honestly my original recipe takes forever (it tastes great though).

So one day I just decided to try the hour bread recipe and just shape the dough into 16 bread rolls. They turned out amazing! My husband was very impressed and so were the kids.

Normally we make 16 rolls but today Jam wanted sub-rolls so made 8 instead. They turned out GREAT!!!

East One Hour Bread (Makes 2 loaves or 16 Rolls)

5 ¼ cups of white flour                  

2-4 tbsp sugar

1 ½ tsp salt

1 ½ tbsp instant yeast

1 ½ tbsp oil

2 Cups warm water

1        Mix dry ingredients.  Add oil and Water

2        Mix for 1 minute and check consistency of the dough (should be sticky) if too dry add a little more water. Mix for 5 minutes. (Do not add anymore flour after the dough has finished mixing)

3       Spray kneading surface with cooking spray and knead briefly until smooth.

4      Divide into 2 or sixteen

5      Shape into desired shapes and place on greased baking sheets. Cover with large damp dish towel rise for 25 minutes

6       While loaves rising, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. If making loaves use a sharp knife to slash the top.

7       Bake loaves for 25-30 minutes or until brown.
